A nine-year-old Chinese schoolgirl became one of the world’s youngest mothers after giving birth to a healthy boy in Changchun, a town in northeast China.

Chinese newspapers report that she gave birth by Caesarean section and the child weighed 6lbs when delivered. While the unnamed girl is not the youngest mother in the world, she is part of a growing contingent of children who hit puberty earlier than expected. Read more.
